Exciting Korean speaking contest in Central Viet Nam for 578th anniversary of Hangul Day
At Da Nang-based private Dong A University, the Korean Consulate General in Da Nang has recently held the final round of the ‘Korean Speaking Contest to Celebrate 578th Anniversary of Hangul Day” commemorating the creation of the Korean alphabet.

The contest is held annually to encourage the passion for Korean among students studying this foreign language in the central region.
In the end, 12 prizes were awarded to contestants in two groups, namely one first, two second and three third prizes in each group. Outstandingly, students from the University of Foreign Language Studies under the University of Da Nang (UFLS-UD) excellently won the both first prizes in the two groups.
Specifically, in Group 1 (for first or second-year students majoring in or not majoring in Korean), the first prize went to contestant Cao Thi My Linh from UFLS-UD); a second prize went to two contestants Tran Chanh Tin from the Viet Nam-Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU) under the UD and Truong Thanh Phong from UFLS-UD); a third prize went to students from the Korean Language and Culture Department, the Dong A University.
In group 2 (for third-year or final-year students), the first prize went to contestant Nguyen Hoang Anh from UFLS-UD; a second prize was awarded to contestants Dao Nhu Quynh from the Dong A University and Truong Thi Tho from UFLS-UD; a third prize was given out to a group of three students from the Korean Language and Culture Department, the Dong A University.
Speaking at the programme, Korean Consul General in Da Nang Kang Boo Sung emphasized that the Korean speaking contest has been held three times, serving as a playground for learning and exchanging for students studying Korean in the central region.
Compared to last year, the number of students participating this year was higher and the level of preparation was more thorough. The majority of the entries showed contestants’ keen interest in the future, a deep passion for Korea as well as love for Viet Nam. This year's contest attracted 65 entries from students in the central region.
