The Centre for Fisheries, Agriculture, and Forestry Extension under the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organised a workshop titled “Current Situation and Solutions for Urban Agriculture Development in Da Nang” on Friday.

In his remarks at the workshop, Director of the Fisheries, Agriculture, and Forestry Extension Centre Dang Van Hong highlighted Da Nang’s significant potential for urban agriculture development. Urban agriculture models not only provide clean food for the city’s residents but also contribute to environmental protection, improved quality of life, and the creation of sustainable economic value.

However, the development of urban agriculture faces several challenges, including limited land resources and the need to transition from traditional agriculture to modern models.

During the workshop, delegates discussed and presented papers and ideas on solutions to advance urban agriculture in Da Nang. These discussions aimed to provide a comprehensive perspective on effective urban agriculture models, the application of advanced technologies, and the development of sustainable support policies. The focus was also on optimising land use, enhancing rural-urban connections, and encouraging community and business participation.

Additionally, the workshop emphasised urban agriculture development linked to factors such as water conservation, agricultural waste recycling, minimising negative environmental impacts, and improving labour productivity.
