Honesty in action by returning lost items
Finding lost items and then posting them on social media to locate the rightful owners has become quite common in Da Nang. Thanks to the rapid spread of social media, especially Facebook, many people, including foreign tourists, have been able to recover lost personal documents and belongings. Among the many good deeds, several of them come from urban sanitation workers from various units under the Da Nang’s Urban Environmental Company.

The writer does not mention the information about this topic on other Facebook pages or groups as they do not follow them regularly, but as the administrator (Admin) of the "Da Nang Urban Management: Comfort - Green - Clean - Beautiful" page, they have frequently approved posts from members seeking to return lost belongings, many of which were found by the city’s urban sanitation workers.
What these citizens do is already a beautiful act, but the work of the environmental workers is even more meaningful. Despite not being wealthy, they live honestly. They don’t take what is lost and are genuinely concerned about the person who has lost something, as if it were a family member, hoping they will soon receive the information to recover their items.
Some individuals have been involved in significant cases, such as when a foreigner lost their belongings, or when the value of the lost and returned property was substantial, which attracted media attention and praise. An example is the case of Mr. Nguyen Van Trung and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Trach, employees of the Son Tra Environmental Enterprise, who found a tourist's belongings from the United States and contacted the authorities to return the items after the tourist had already gone to Japan.
Another case involves Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, an employee at the Song Bien Environmental Enterprise, part of the Da Nang Urban Environmental Company, who on June 17, 2024, found a mobile phone lost by a tourist while working at Sao Bien Beach. She immediately reported it to the enterprise and searched for the owner, later returning the phone to Mr. Nguyen Tran Viet from Hoi An. On the same day, Ms. Huynh Thi Hong, working at Pham Van Dong Beach, also found a mobile phone belonging to a tourist and promptly returned it.
These are the cases where the full names of the environmental workers are known. However, most of the posts are short announcements such as: "An environmental worker found some documents but couldn’t locate the owner. Please help share the information so the owner can contact us," along with the address and phone number for contacting. Other posts list the specific documents found, along with detailed photos of the information. Some posts are more general.
The good deeds of Da Nang’s urban workers can be found everywhere, at all times, from the environmental enterprises in the districts to the specialized units of the company, such as the Son Bien Environmental Enterprise and the Waste Management and Disposal Enterprise. It can be said that, despite doing hard work in environments with many pollution risks, these humble workers have contributed to making their hometown even more beautiful, helping create a Da Nang that is green, clean, and beautiful in many ways.
