After nearly one month of operation, the Thanh Khe Tay Night Market associated with a pedestrian area, located along Yen Khe 1 Street in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District, has attracted a large number of locals and visitors.

It daily operates from 6.00pm - 12.00pm, and admission is free for all visitors.

The night market features a total of over 100 stalls selling souvenirs, food and drinks, specialities, dried seafood, fashionable clothes, and others.

Student Nguyen Thi Thuy Vy from the Da Nang College of Commerce said she and her friends often visited the night market in their free time in order to purchase some neccessities, play games, enjoy musical performances, and try some delicious street dishes.

“Previously, I and my friends had to go to the city centre at weekends to enjoy arts programmes or try street food. However, since the Thanh Khe Tay Night Market was opened to the public in March, we have only visited the venue instead of travelling a long distance to the city centre to enjoy relaxing moments with my friends after a week of hard studying”, Vy added. 

In addition to providing a new entertainment space for locals and visitors, the Thanh Khe Tay Night Market has contributed to creating job opportunities for many people.

Ms Tran Thi My, an owner of a jewelry shop, remarked although she had a stable job, she still registered a stall in the night market in order to earn extra money.

She added her stall was always crowded with visitors every night, especially on the weekends.

Mr Do Ngoc Thi Ca, Director of the DHTC Da Nang Company which is the developer of the night market, remarked the night market is not only a place to carry out normal commercial activities but also is a cultural beauty of modern cities.

He noted he would encourage traders at the market to make more eye-catching decoration for their stalls, and sell diversified goods in order to draw much attention from locals along with domestic and foreign visitors in the coming time.

According to Mr Vo Kim Tu, Head of Thanh Khe District’s Economics Office, highlighted the significance of the opening of the night market in effectively resolving the illegal encroachment of trading activities onto the street's pavements which caused negative affects on social order, the landscape, and traffic along the street, as well as stimulate the consumption of handicraft products at local traditional craft villages.

Mr Tu said in the coming time the Thanh Khe Tay Night Market will be expanded into Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with the intention of creating a tourism space combined with synchronous shopping area in order to attract even more visitors to this district.
