Lovely 59 café - worth a visit!
Nestled in a small alley No 59 on Hai Phong Street, Da Nang, the 59 café has an interior characterized by extreme minimalism with retro vintage influences. Staff where very attentive, service is fast, and atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. The 59 café is definitely worth a visit when in Da Nang.
Simple furniture, brick walls with only hanging lamps and black cables sketching amusing lines for decoration, it must be said that this coffee shop actually intrigues and attracts attention.
The 59 was renovated by architect Le Trong Vu, a male native of Da Nang, from a 3-storey old house dating back from the 1970s and rarely being used.
Vu and his colleagues have together renovated the old house into a lovely coffee shop where modern meets tradition letting you to temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Some existing building materials of the house, including ceramic tiles and stones remained unchanged whilst some new materials were replaced to make the space become nostalgic in an effort to bring out something new and yet familiar to customers.
Concrete grey combined with huge wooden tables brings a retro atmosphere to customers.
Also, The 59 café is the collection of remarkable vintage 1980s furniture, including a cabinet, telephones, cassettes and clocks, which are hardly seen in modern households, and they may recall your memories about the country in the past.
Visitors to the place will fall in love with its simple shapes, the obvious influence of industrial style from the beginning of the last century, and the contrast between the earth orange of the brick walls with the brown colour of tables and chairs and the concrete grey of ground.
The general decor cannot be described as convivial or warm, but that’s where the particularity of the whole design concept of this creative café lies.
The shop offers a varied drinks menu to satisfy its guests. Most notably, it is famous for its tasty apple cold brew coffee, egg coffee and red dragon fruit tea with cream cheese that are very good for your health and give you unforgettable flavour.
At about 7.30 on the weekends, customers can be treated to live acoustic shows, or fascinating talk shows about environment or films at The 59 café.
