Gao Restaurant - ideal place to try Hue-style 'banh uot ba chi gion da' in Da Nang
Being en route from Da Nang to Hue City, you should not miss a chance to enjoy the flavorful ‘Banh uot ba chi gion da’ (steamed thin rice pancakes served with roasted pork belly with crispy skin) in Mrs Suu Restaurant.
Although ‘banh uot’ has been very popular in Hue City, ‘banh uot ba chi gion da’ brings a very special taste that if having a chance to enjoy it, surely you’ll remember its taste forever.
The restaurant serves only one main dish for dinners: steamed thin rice pancakes served with roasted pork belly with crispy skin. The pork belly is freshly roasted, and its skin is so crispy. This dish is usually served with fresh salad, sour bean sprouts, and chilli sweet-and-sour fish sauce.
In Da Nang, local residents and tourists now can enjoy this tasty and delicious dish at the Gao Restaurant, set on 17 Dong Da in Hai Chau District.
Despite just coming into operation in September, the restaurant has been quickly becoming a favourite dining destination for gourmets who wanna try some of Vietnamese specialties.
Apart from ‘banh uot ba chi gion da’, the Gao Restaurant offers Da Nang-style ‘banh canh’ (rice spaghetti), and Ha Noi-style ‘bun dau mam tom’ (fermented shrimp paste with fried tofu and rice vermicelli).
In addition, a variety of healthy fruit juices and fresh beverages, including peach tea with orange and lemongrass, salted plum kumquat tea, and carrot and tomato juice are available.
This enchanting small restaurant opens daily from 6.00am until 10.00pm.
