Local newspaper The Star, on July 27, quoted MAS CEO Peter Bellew as saying deliveries of the B737 MAX aircraft, which are known for their fuel efficiency, will commence in 2019 and they are used for long distance air routes.

This deal is part of MAS’s plan to regain the market share the carrier lost in recent years, he said, adding that MAS will not cut down the number of workers and flights in the near future.

Instead, it will reduce prices for economy-class fares to increase competitiveness, he said, noting that the airline will add flights to six or seven destinations in the years to come, mainly in North Asia.
