COVID-19 infections in Philippines remain high

The Philippines on January 17 logged 37,070 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths from the disease, bringing the respective figures to 3,242,374 and 52,929.

Its Health Ministry said the number of patients under treatment has hit all-time high to 290,938.
The country is striving to prevent the fourth pandemic wave amid a spike of infections this month due to much travelling and rapid spread of Omicron and Delta variants.
On January 15, it confirmed a record 39,004 cases since the pandemic outbreak.
