Da Nang has come out top of Viet Nam’s Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) 6 times since the ranking started nationwide in 2005.  Most notably, the city has secured top position for the last 3 years.

This positive outcome has been mainly attributed to the city’s efforts to develop a healthy competitive environment for local businesses.  This has helped them overcome their difficulties, maintain stable production and business activities, and ensure the city’s progress.

Currently, over 16,000 businesses are now operating in the city.  This figure represents the highest number per capita amongst the 14 central coastal cities and provinces, and the third highest amongst 5 centrally-governed localities.

In addition, the city now has 21 business associations and the city takes the lead in the central region for the number of such associations.  Most notably, the city is a pioneer in Viet Nam with business associations operating in all local wards, communes and districts.

Together the local business associations have helped their members effectively develop their production activities and uphold their spirit of solidarity in the current context of deeper global economic integration.  This has helped local businesses to fulfil their social responsibilities, and to join efforts with the city authorities to build Da Nang into a start-up city.

To mark the occasion, 5 of the city’s outstanding businesspeople were honoured in recognition of their remarkable achievements.  They were General Director of the Electronics and Informatics company Tran Minh Vong, Director of A Chau Architecture and Trading Ha Ngoc Thong, General Director of the Da Nang Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment company Tong Viet Phai, Director of Hai Van Nam company Nguyen Thi Nguyet, and Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of Binh Vinh Corporation Pham Bac Binh.

Previously, on 11 October, 2 of Da Nang’s businesspeople received prestigious ‘Outstanding Vietnamese Businesspeople 2016’ titles at an awards ceremony held in Ha Noi.  They were Ms Pham Thi Xuan Nguyet, the General Director of the 29 March Textiles and Garments Company, and Mr Huynh Tan Vinh, the General Director of Furama Resort Danang.
