The majority of the domestic visitors were from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.  Most of them chose to book their flights, hotels, and other tourism services independently via the Internet rather than buy package tours offered by travel agencies.

Ms Mai Chau and her friends from Ha Noi have visited Da Nang many times, and this year they decided to return to the city to celebrate the Tet Festival here.  All of them were impressed by the city’s fresh air, friendly residents, beautiful landscapes, and delicious food specialities.

Mr Wang Jian from China said that he likes celebrating Tet in Da Nang because the city’s Tet atmosphere is not too noisy.

Thanks to the city’s favourable weather over Tet, a large number of local residents and visitors visited local attractions and participated in the numerous attractive entertainment activities held across the city.  In total, the popular local attractions received a total of 129,690 visitors from both home and abroad, an increase of 16.7% compared with the same period in 2016.

According to some locally-based travel agencies, the increase in the number of visitors to the city during the holiday was mainly attributed to the timing of Tet as it falls in the tourism season of neighbouring markets such as China, South Korea and Japan as well as for overseas Vietnamese.  In addition, a wide range of tourism programmes were organised across the city to attract more visitors.

Over the Tet Festival, 3 cruise ships berthed at the city’s Tien Sa Port, carrying 6,826 international passengers in total, up 6.8% against the same period in 2016.  The ships were MS Chinese Taishan, Dream Cruises’ Genting Dream, and Star Cruises' SuperStar Virgo.

In addition, the city recorded an increase in the number of flights to the city, thus bringing a higher number of air passengers in comparison with the same period last year.  In total, the city welcomed 22,410 international air passengers from 180 flights, up 18.8% on last year.

The city’s international airport now has a total of 11 scheduled and 9 charter international routes.
