More local government support needed for organic farming
In an effort to ensure the sufficient supply of organic agricultural products for local residents, many agricultural product distributors and retailers across Da Nang are calling for support from the municipal government to promote the production and consumption of such products.

Director of the DANAVI Mart Phan Nhu Yen said like many organic agricultural product retailers, her supermarket found it very hard to identify the origin of safe products.
She, therefore, underlined the importance of increasing checks by functional bodies over the quality and the origin of organic products. In addition, organising events to connect retailers with organic farmers was highlighted.
Ms Yen remarked that additional organic products have been sourced from other localities due to low supply and high demand in Da Nang. However, the problems encountered are easily-spoiled organic products which are without preservatives.
Therefore, she highlighted the urgent need to build a cold storage in the city for organic products which are sourced from other localities before being transported to selling venues.
Ms Ngo Thi Hanh, Deputy Director of the Hoa Vang Agricultural Products Production and Consumption Co Ltd, underscored the significance of gathering small-scale suppliers into a large-scale supply centre. The intention is to help sellers easily source such products and shorten time for bringing their products to customers.
Ms Le Nguyen Thi Nhu Nguyen, Director of the Nong Bao Ngoc Company (NongPro), urged the city authorities to help organic farmers partly cover the costs for testing their products, as well as to grant product quality certifications in order for local residents to buy organic products at reasonable prices.
