Students' active involvement in promoting tourism in mountainous areas

A group of dynamic students from the Da Nang University of Economics have actively been engaged in promoting the inviting image of the mountainous district of Nam Giang in the neighbouring province of Quang Nam.

They have invested a great deal of their time and efforts in designing a website, creating a map, making videos and compiling a guidebook for visitors arriving in the district, hereby helping to advertise potential tourist attractions there.

The students from the faculties of Business Administration, Political Economy, International Business and Tourism at the university spent nearly a month jointly completing the tourism publications and handed over them to the district authorities for their release to the public.

Student Phuong Hong Bao from the Faculty of Political Economics, who was in charge of creating the map and compiling the travel guidebook, said she and her fellows focused on conducting the meticulous observation of terrains in the districts as well as asking local inhabitants there for exact information.

“Using this useful map, travellers or anyone who wants to gain a deep insight into Nam Giang can find it easer to access attractive tourism sites such as a time-honoured traditional weaving village, the Grang waterfall, and the Thanh River.

The map proves its great usefulness in introducing tourists to rest stops, gas stations, coffee shops, car repair centres, the district-level Administration Centre, healthcare establishments, ATMs and other much-needed places.

In addition to the map, the pocket travel guidebook provides the geographical location, special cultural features, and culinary values of Nam Giang.

Also, there is a highly-recommended travel schedule featuring 2 days /1 night tours, and essential information on inviting motels, coffee shops and tourism services.

The talented students suggested that the potential of the Bung River hydroelectric reservoir should be fully tap to offer an attractive new tourism product for the mountainous district.

Student Lam Hoang Thang from the Faculty of International Business, who was responsible for developing a website on Nam Giang’s tourism, eagerly said, “In order to capture picturesque images of Nam Giang, we spent many days staying with local residents people as well as learning more about such cultural features here as the buffalo stabbing rite, and the New Rice Festival, plus locally-made specialities of this mountainous location".

The beautiful photos highlighting the most beautiful and quintessential features of Nam Giang are expected to invite everyone to explore this district right away, thereby appealing for more tourist arrivals from both home and aboard in the coming time.

Apart form releasing the travel publications and videos advertising Nam Giang’s image, the group has been making reasonable proposals on awakening the great tourism development potential of attractive sites in the hope of meeting the diversified demands and tastes of visitors and creating more direct tourism-related employment for local job seekers across the locality.

Mr Le Dinh Quang Phuc, the Secretary of the university’s Youth Union Organisation highly praised the students for their active engagement in promoting the Nam Giang tourism, hereby clearly showing their creativity and community responsibility.
