Tourism industry stimulates economic growth by generating income, employment, investment and exports. It also generates valuable spin-off benefits, including preservation of cultural heritage, improved infrastructure and local community facilities. But, tourism potentials in Da Nang have yet to be fully tapped.

Da Nang government has set out action plans to drive the development of the tourism industry in the years ahead.

Specifically, remedial action is required to reinforce the tourism sector’s strength. Da Nang government will take the lead in setting a suitable policy environment; and for policy initiatives to be effective, the city must ensure that initiatives are designed and implemented on the basis of a “whole of government” approach, given that tourism is a cross-cutting sector with implications for many different areas of government policy.

The strategic plan for developing the tourism industry in a sustainable manner will be created with a focus on developing high-quality tourism services and holiday properties, along with encouraging a diverse night-time economy.

Da Nang eyes to become a tourism hub in Asia, and an attractive destination for international events and festivals during the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045.

Da Nang will strive to create unique and highly competitive tourism products in line with cultural values and environmental protection. Heed will be paid to fully tapping the great potential of the city’s coastline stretching in Ngu Hanh Son and Son Tra districts, and that of the Son Tra Peninsula.

Special attention will be paid to developing key tourism products, including MICE (Meetings-Incentives-Conferences-Exhibitions), beach tourism, community-based ecotourism, and spiritual tourism.

Beyond immediate measures to drive post-pandemic tourism recovery, Da Nang will prioritise promoting the application of technology in destination management and tourist support services.

In 2025, there will be 12-13 million visits to Da Nang, including about 4.2 million oversea visits. The figure will present a 1.4-fold increase when compared with 2019. Revenue in the tourism industry is expected to show an annual growth rate of 12% - 12.5% in the 2021 - 2025 period.
