Da Nang to reopen its economy soon

Addressing at the ‘Business Dialogue’ on Friday morning, Da Nang People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said that the city so far has issued 11 COVID-19 support packages totalling nearly VND 800 billion for businesses in a bid to help them through this tough time.

In his closing remarks, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang affirmed that Da Nang leaders always pay attention to listening to opinions from businesses and helping them dealing with their difficulties and challenges in an attempt to drive their growth.

Mr Quang said that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on Da Nang’s economy and its residents’ lives. The city has taken strict and drastic measures to tackle COVID-19, and these measures have been effective in helping the city record new cases in single-digit in recent days. He remarked that the city is willing to sacrifice immediate economic benefits to protect people's health and lives.

The Da Nang top leader stated that positive outcomes in the city’s fight against COVID-19 are partly attributed to great efforts of local businesses in providing active support for the city and its residents.

Mr Quang said that the city will reopen its economy and society as soon as possible with proper precautions in place in line with the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s Directive. He, therefore, called on businesses and every one across Da Nang to continue to follow the recommended practices for safety and health, and take action to protect themselves and others after the city reopens.

In October, the city will strive to ensure that all adults aged 18 years and over receive at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, the city government pledges to cover 50% of COVID-19 testing costs for employees in businesses. Moreover, over VND 500 billion from the city’s budget will go to support businesses amid COVID-19 crisis.

In addition, the city will carry out further public administration in an effort to create the most favourable conditions for businesses, as well as drive them transformation with digitalization.

2021 is a challenging year for Da Nang. However, the Da Nang Party Chief expressed his belief that the city’s economy will soon recover from COVID-19 with strong determination from the government’s officials and public involvement and consensus.

Also at the event, many businesses were honoured with certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee for their great contributions to the State budget and well implementing the ‘stay-at-work’ solution to prevent the spread of the virus.

In detail, 12 companies were honoured for their great contributions to the State budget. The honourees were the Petroleum Company Region 5, Da Nang Lottery & Printing Service One Member Company Limited, Sun Group, Da Nang Water Supply Company, Central Power Corporation, Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company, Da Nang branch of Mobile World Joint Stock Company, Phuong Dai Thanh Trading and Service Company Limited, Da Nang branch of Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Book and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company in Central Region, Co.opmart Da Nang Supermarket Trading Service One Member Company Limited.

Besides, 15 other companies received certificates of merit from the Da Nang government for. They are Sun Group, Phuong Trang Joint Stock Company, BRG Group Joint Stock Company, VinGroup, PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation, Hoa Phat Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. Da Nang, Da Nang Steel Joint Stock Company, Ha Giang - Phuoc Tuong Mechanical Joint Stock Company, Da Nang branch of Long Khai Co., Ltd, the Petroleum Company Region 5, Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company, Central Power Corporation, Hoa Tho Textile and Garment Corporation, March 29 Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company.
