Da Nang has always allowed all flight arrivals on domestic routes nationwide, including those from COVID-s19-stricken localities provided compulsory pandemic prevention measure must be put in place. There is a need for smooth coordination between airlines and local authorities to ensure safety against the pandemic.

The firm statement was made by Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh at a meeting held by the municipal Steering Board for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The municipal administration’s leader also refuted information covered on some Vietnamese newspapers about Da Nang initial refusal to allow a Vietjet Air-operated commercial flight from Ho Chi Minh City, one of the country’s coronavirus hotspots for the time being.

In reality, it was not until 12:30 pm on October 10, 2021 that Da Nang received any information about this Da Nang-bound aforementioned flight from Ho Chi Minh City. In the same afternoon, the municipal leaders gave a nod to the reception of this flight arrival as planned, Chief of Office of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Ha Nam said.

Previously, the Da Nang administration had unanimously agreed on a plan initiated by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport on the resumption of return flights per day on  domestic routes, including those connecting Da Nang with other big cities from October 10 - 20 on a trial basis.

However, it is necessary that the Ministry of Transport consider reducing the frequency of return flights per day on Da Nang – Ha Noi /Ho Chi Minh City routes in line with actual situation.
