An online seminar on strengthening friendship and cooperation in trade, investment and tourism between Da Nang and Thailand took place on Tuesday.

The online event was jointly organised by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, the Da Nang chapter of the Viet Nam-Thailand Friendship Association, the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, and the University of Da Nang.

In his remarks at the webinar, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Tran Phuoc Son highly appreciated positive results from the comprehensive bilateral cooperation with Thailand in the fields of trade, tourism, education - training, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

He noted that, in the coming time, the two sides will continue to maintain and expand the scale of cooperation activities in such aspects as trade, investment and tourism, especially promoting the advantages of the East West Economic Corridor, in a bid to deepen their bilateral cooperative relationship.

Participants at the event highlighted the necessity for the two sides to issue breakthrough policies in order to fully tap their potential and advantages. Importance should be attached on training high-quality human resources, as well as developing and connecting pecial economic zones on the East-West Economic Corridor with a focus on ceramic production, textile and garment industry, leather footwear, supporting industries, tourism, agriculture, and others.

Till date, Da Nang businesses have established bilateral cooperative relationships with around 20 partners in Thailand.

Da Nang-Thailand trade exchange reaches an annual average of nearly US$45 million. Da Nang welcomes about 213,000 Thai tourists every year.
