Clean-up the beach
Recorded at 4:30 a.m. on April 19, when people and tourists went to the beach for relaxing strolls, doing physical exercise and swim, workers of the Marine Environment Enterprise under the Da Nang Urban Environment JSC were present along Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Sa coastal streets to collect garbage recklessly left by tourists and clean up all kinds of trash washed up ashore due to the influence of the rising cold air and strong winds.
All garbage was taken to the sidewalk area of Vo Nguyen Giap and Hoang Sa streets and the poured into bins for later transportation by specialized vehicles to Lien Chieu District-based Khanh Son landfill, the largest of its kind in the city from early morning for disposal.
By 5:30 a.m., when the beaches were crowded with people and tourists, the trash had been cleaned up.
Workers cleaned up the My Khe and T20 beaches, and the Bien Dong (East Sea) Park and moved to Man Thai and Tho Quang beaches in Son Tra District to assist in garbage collection there because these beaches often suffered more trash than others.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thanh, a worker cleaning the T20 Beach said, “At night, there were many groups of people gathering, eating, and enjoying the cool air, leaving a lot of garbage and scattered by the wind, so we had to clean up early in the morning to ensure safety and beauty. Da Nang now enters the tourist season, so the time to clean the beach is longer. When there are fun and entertainment events on the beach, we are almost always on duty for garbage collection, especially in time to collect many used masks, leftovers and sharp eating utensils and other items. We hope that people and tourists coming to the beaches will put all kinds of garbage into the already-designated public dustbins, a positive move to join hands to keep the Da Nang beach clean and beautiful”.
Deputy Director of the Marine Environment Enterprise Tran Cong Chuyen said: “During the tourism peak as well as the rainy season, the job of each worker cleaning the beaches is hard. We always encourage workers to clean up early, before there are many people and tourists coming here for physical exercise and strolls along beaches in a bid to ensure safety and beauty, thus contributing to building a beautiful image of the central Vietnamese tourism hub”.
Calling for tourism businesses to protect the environment
Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong said that his agency always requires the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches to coordinate with the River and Sea Environment Enterprise under the Da Nang Urban Environment JSC to regularly ensure environmental sanitation at tourist beaches stretching along Nguyen Tat Thanh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Sa and Truong Sa coastal routes as well as the Son Tra Peninsula to build Da Nang into a green - clean - beautiful and civilised destination.
Also, the Department of Tourism has coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment to organise the launching ceremony of the programme ‘Clean City - Green Destination’ and kick off an environmental sanitation campaign to welcome visitors.
At the same time, attention is being paid to calling for the business community in the city and businesses belonging to the Da Nang Tourism Association to join hands to ensure environmental sanitation.
Tourists and local dwellers are making joint efforts to keep the environment clean and beautiful, thus contributing to building a green, friendly, attractive and hospitable destination.
Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment Vo Nguyen Chuong said that his agencies and other relevant local agencies will continue to closely coordinate with one another, especially pushing ahead the effective implementation of environmental protection activities in all business establishments, accommodation and travel services throughout the city.
Thereby, heed will be paid to inspecting, detecting and strictly handling all violations of the law on environmental protection in tourism activities, a move to make Da Nang a green destination.
On the business side, General Manager of Ariyana Danang tourism complex Andre Pierre affirmed that the green - clean - beautiful environment not only helps our lives better, but more and more tourists will come to Da Nang thanks to its well- preserved environment.
Let's always ensure beautiful landscape and environment so that international tourists coming to Da Nang can be proud and tell their relatives and friends that: “Da Nang is a wonderful place that you must visit and a beautiful and green destination”.
