Da Nang ranks second on Provincial Innovation Index
Da Nang has ranked second on the Provincial Innovation Index (PII). The information was released at a meeting on Wednesday on deploying science, technology and innovation tasks in 2023 set by the Ministry of Science and Technology
The set of PII, which has just been piloted in 20 provinces/cities, is expected to be a tool to measure innovation results and it is slated to be applied nationwide next year.
2022 is the first year that the Ministry of Science and Technology has tested the development and evaluation of PII indicators applied to 20 cities/ provinces, namely Son La, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Dong Thap, Ben Tre, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong.
The set of PII indicators has the goal of building a capacity measurement system to promote the development of each locality.
As a result, Ha Noi ranked first with the highest score of 61.07, followed by Da Nang with 56.69 points and Ho Chi Minh City with 52.27 points.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is proposing to the national government to officially deploy PII from 2023 on a national scale.
This national agency will support localities in gaining a deep insight into calculation methods, the meaning of ranking indicators and how to collect and provide information for evaluation and ranking.
