More multiple solutions needed to restore tourism, especially woo foreign travelers

As reported at a recent meeting, this year, the number of arrivals at tourist accommodation facilities are estimated to reach 3.69 million, an increase of 3.1 times as compared to 2021 and of 5% higher than the Da Nang administration- assigned plans. Of this, international visitors would have reach 483,000, up 4.6 times compared to 2021 whilst domestic ones are estimated at 3.2 million, 3 times higher than that in 2021.

The revenue of accommodation, food and travel is estimated at VND21,300 billion, accounting for 17% of the city's economic structure, nearly 2 times higher than that in 2021 and a similar recovery compared to 2019 with VND 21,390 billion.

Also outstandingly, many attractive tourism events and activities of national and international statures have been successfully organised in the past year such as online travel fair Danang Fantasticity, Enjoy Danang Summer Festival 2022, Asian Development Golf Tournament; Routes Asia 2022, Viet Nam International Travel Mart (VITM) Da Nang 2022.

In 2023, the tourism industry sets a goal to focus on restoring and developing the international tourist market, building tourism products and services towards standards " high quality", effectively carry out communication, promotion and advertising, update market trends, ensure security and safety of the destination; strive to increase the number of guests staying for service by 15-20% compared to 2022.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen highly appreciated and praised the city’s very active tourism industry  for actively deploying programmes, plans, flexible and innovative adaptation solutions to restore tourism activities as soon as conditions permit.

The tourism industry needs to continue to implement solutions to restore tourism activities, especially to develop international tourist markets, restore human resources, and ensure service quality and service, focusing on customer service skills.

Also, it is noted that more efforts should be taken to raise public awareness to preserve Da Nang’s image as an unique, safe and hospitable destination. On the part of the city's leaders, they will continue to pay more attention to creating favourable conditions for realizing the goal of developing the city's tourism industry to truly become a spearhead economic sector.

Also at the event, the Da Nang Department of Tourism received the emulation flag from the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recognition for their outstanding  achievements. In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded 8 Certificates of Merit to 6 collectives and 2 individuals in the city for their contributions to the tourism industry in 2022.
