Da Nang introduces plans to boost tourism

Da Nang has created a tourism stimulus plan with the effort and participation of all the sectors involved. The focus will be on offering an array of exciting events in order to boost domestic and international tourist numbers in 2023.

Mrs Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism said that despite facing challenges in 2023, the Department has issued a stimulus plan to attract tourists to Da Nang with the aim to promote the city as a unique, safe and welcoming holiday destination. She remarked that Da Nang will introduce its tourism products and services with the use of multiple channels to reach domestic and international tourists. In addition, Da Nang’s stimulus plan is expected to create opportunities for local tourism businesses to promote their products and services to the city’s existing and potential tourism source markets, thereby driving the city’s tourism rebound.

The stimulus plan carries a special message of ‘Enjoy Da Nang Now’ with a focus on launching various programs under such topics as enjoy the sea, enjoy the holidays, enjoy entertainment, enjoy the cuisine, enjoy shopping and enjoy festivals. The organizers will call for funding to offer around 10,000 free vouchers that will allow recipients to use tourism products and services in Da Nang free of charge. The stimulus plan will be introduced in the city’s key tourism source markets, including South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan (China), Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

According to Mrs Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the city’s tourism stimulus plan is expected to attract about 1-1.5 million domestic and international tourists to Da Nang, especially the National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holidays, summer months and the Lunar New Year Holiday. The plan will be rolled out with the participation of more than 1 million people involved. Therefore, it is necessary for Da Nang to raise funds, call for active participation of the municipal Tourism Association, its member associations, large tourism corporations and the tourism business community to offer attractive products and service packages in a bid to increase visitor arrivals in the city. The municipal Department of Tourism also asked participating businesses to commit to listing prices and promoting price transparency of their products and services, selling and providing the right products and services at displayed prices, ensuring quality customer service. Furthermore, the Department also called for joint efforts from local tourism businesses to communicate the city’s stimulus plan, as well as to increase the use of information technology in order to ensure effective communication to reach domestic and international tourists.

Moreover, the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches also prepares activities for the opening of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2023 which is scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 3 in an effort to contribute to enriching the city’s festive activities.

Mr. Phan Minh Hai, the Deputy Director of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches said that the 6-day event aims to boost Da Nang tourism in 2023. The event will feature various exciting cultural and sporting activities. Included will be the opening ceremony of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2023 at the My An Beach, an exhibition about beach art models, art kite-flying performances, a space to experience traditional craft villages and local food, the Blue Sea - Healthy Life Festival, the Fresh summer sea Festival, the Sand Sculpture Contest for students, and the Da Nang Color Race 2023, the Summer Dance Camp program.

In addition, there will be exhibitions about maritime environmental and wild animal protection, a drawing contest about red-shanked douc langurs combined with a photo exhibition themed ‘Moments of Son Tra’, the 'Flying over the silver sea' paragliding tournament, and a chess tournament.

In order to ensure the safety of swimmers during the city’s high tourist season, the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches is focusing on strengthening rescue operations while ensuring social security and order, and environmental sanitation. Special attention is paid to upgrading public beach services, setting up swimming barriers which create an enclosed safe swimming zone, installing warning signs for dangerous areas, issuing severe weather alerts, and installing warning signs for areas without rescuers.

The city’s tourism stimulus plan has been praised by local tourism businesses for its great benefits brought to them, and the city at large as it is expected to boost domestic and international tourist numbers.

Mr. Tran Quang Trung, the Director of the Da Nang branch of WorldTrans said that that the city’s tourism stimulus plan along with festive activities will be the highlights for the city to attract visitors from both home and abroad. He also stressed the need for the city to refresh its tourism products and services in an attempt to inspire tourists to extend their stay in the city.

Mr. Trung also highlighted the significance of coordination between travel agencies, hotels, resorts, airlines, and other involved companies to offer a full package tour at a reasonable price, thereby helping Da Nang destination become more competitive and inviting to domestic and international travellers.
