Digital transformation solutions for businesses to join global supply chain

The Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade has recently organised a training course entitled ‘Digital transformation solutions for businesses for participation in the global supply chain’ in an effort to help businesses have an overview of digital transformation applications in the field of import and export to shape production and business activities, gradually enhancing capacity and expand markets.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tru, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, announced some goals of the industry and trade sector by 2025 regarding digital transformation. In details, at least 90% of the businesses have e-commerce accounts; 50% of enterprises produce digital data industry, digital industry in production; at least 50% of the local population take online shopping activities.

To successfully implement the above-mentioned goals, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade will develop a detailed implementation plan, closely following the digital transformation tasks and solutions taken by ministries and related agencies.

Ph.D Nguyen Kieu Trang, the Deputy Dean of the Department of Digital Economics and E-commerce, the Viet Nam-Korean University of Information and Communication Technology, a member school of the University of Da Nang, said that many businesses in the city only rely on e-commerce websites to introduce products and business services but not yet integrate sales through these websites. Besides, import-export digital transformation is still a new concept.

Import-export digital transformation includes a number of contents that need attention, namely market search,the origin of goods, geographical indications, digital documents and international digital trade policy.

The digital economy’s proportion made up for 15% of the country's GDP in the first half of 2023. The e-Conomy SEA annual digital economy report, researched by Google and Temasek, announced that Viet Nam's digital economic growth rate in 2022 reached 28%, leading Southeast Asia.
