Delivering his speech at the event, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council and the Da Nang Tennis Federation (DTF) Nguyen Nho Trung affirmed that Da Nang has secured its stature as the cultural and sports hub and a city of events in the central region.

The opening of the DTTC, therefore, is highly expected to significantly accelerate the diversification of sporting events in the city. In addition, it not only helps to enhance the professional level of the city’s tennis team, but it also creates a strong motivation for developing the tennis sector.

The centre is under administrative control of Executive Director Truong Quang Vu and Technical Director Dimitri Penchev.

Executive Director Vu remarked that, after 7 years of its operation, DTTC’s professional tennis players will compete and even achieve positive outcomes at the Grand Slam tournaments, namely Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open.

Furthermore, the DTTC athletes will be required to enhance their positions in the ATP & WTA tennis rankings, which feature the world's top ranked players in men's and women’s professional tennis, respectively.

Also, DTTC-trained players will account for one third of the national squad’s members.

Given such targets mentioned above, it is hoped that Da Nang will become one of the country’s top tennis centres in order to attract even more domestic and foreign tennis players to practise and compete here.

Previously, the Sun Group and DTF had signed a cooperation agreement on donations.

Under the agreement, Sun group will donate a total of 70 billion VND to DTF for 7 years. 15 billion VND of which will go to help DTF build international-standard tennis facilities in 2018 and 2019.
