The Da Nang Tennis Training Centre (DTTC), which marked its appearance in the city last October, not only helps to enhance the professional level of the tennis team, but it also creates a strong motivation for developing the tennis sector in the city.

Amongst the DTTC’s trainees, Vietnamese-Hungarian Fodor Csilla and Phan Thi Thanh Binh won 3 gold medals for women’s singles, women’s doubles and women’s team, respectively, at the recent 8th National Sports Congress.

Besides, the 2 female players then recorded outstanding performances at the 100Plus International Junior Tennis Championships 2018 in Thailand. In detail, Fodor Csilla won a golden medal in the women's singles, whilst Binh won a bronze in the women's singles. Also, the duo brought home a gold medal in the women's doubles.

In addition, DTTC’s young players have gained positive results at other international competitions. Pham Tuan Long and Pham Hoang Hieu grabbed gold medals in U16 and U14 men's singles, respectively, in the Mandiri Junior Super Series XI 2018 tournament in Indonesia.

In a similar vein, other young players claimed the gold and the silver at the 2018 Impact Supper Junior Tennis Tournament in Thailand.

On the weekly basis, in addition to 9 training drills on the court, athletes attend 5 academic sessions and 3 foreign language classes.

DTTC Executive Director Truong Quang Vu remarked, under the guidance of Technical Director Dimitri Penchev, a Canada Certified Level 3 Tennis Coach, DTTC’s players have achieved some remarkable success after only 3 months of the centre’s operation, instead of up to 6 months of training as previously scheduled.

According to Executive Director Vu, the Viet Nam Tennis Federation (VTF) is expected to choose the DTTC as a training venue for the national Vietnamese team in preparation for the Davis Cup, the premier international team event in men’s tennis, and SEA Games.

Besides, importance has been attached to actively cooperating with foreign professional athlete training institutes and centres in a bid to enhance the quality of training at DTTC.

Under its targets, after 7 years of its operation, DTTC’s professional tennis players will compete and even achieve positive outcomes at the Grand Slam tournaments, namely Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open.

Furthermore, the DTTC athletes will be required to enhance their positions in the ATP & WTA tennis rankings, which feature the world's top ranked players in men's and women’s professional tennis, respectively.

Also, DTTC-trained players will account for one third of the national squad’s members.

Given such targets mentioned above, it is hoped that Da Nang will become one of the country’s top tennis centres in order to attract even more domestic and foreign tennis players to practise and compete here.
