According to the documents released by the Museum of Da Nang, this ancient tomb was built around the beginning of the 19th century, showing the typical artistic and architectural styles of ancient tombs under the Nguyen Dynasty.

The tomb was built of lime compound with an area of 7x10m, looking over the south according to the feng shui concept of the ancients, with a stone slab and a stele engraved with the name of the Confucian scholar.

Mac Truong Thanh, during the reign of Lord Nguyen Anh (later Emperor Gia Long, the first emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty), took refuge in an area, now called Hoa Phu Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang, provided a large volume of cattle and food for soldiers led by the founder of the Nguyen Dynasty.

When he ascended the throne, Emperor Gia Long honoured Mac Truong Thanh’s great merits and contributions, and decided to grant him a meritorious mandarin post. However, Mac Truong Thanh refused it and only accepted the title of the “Confucian a scholar in seclusion in the hometown”.
