The Da Nang preliminary round of the K-Pop World Festival 2022 took place on Friday as a joint coordination among the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Da Nang, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean Television Station, the Da Nang University of Foreign Language Studies

This was the third time the contest had been held in order to celebrate the 30^th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam - RoK diplomatic ties as well as promote cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries.

Previously, nearly 30 groups of contestants had gone through the online qualifiers. Only 18 groups of excellent candidates from Da Nang and the central provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Thua Thien- Hue advanced into this preliminary round.

Bigbabies from Da Nang was honoured with the first prize worth 1,000,000 won, whilst Hustle Gen, also from Da Nang, grasped the second prize of 500,000 won.

Third prizes, valued at 300,000 won each, went to Mkits, Demon Team and Dark Gmic, all from Da Nang.

As revealed by the contest’s organisers, the three groups with the highest scores will be eligible to compete in the final round of the international contest, which will take place in RoK.

The RoK Consulate General is expected to continue to organise cultural exchange programmes in Da Nang for the rest of this year such as the Korean Folk Music Festival, K-Food Festival and Korean speaking contest, all of which aim to create a highly practical playground for exchanges, connections and promotion of the RoK culture to the Da Nang people, and Viet Nam as a whole.
