Many of young talented footballers have been nurtured and sooner or later become prominent players nationwide, thereby contributing to the development of the city’s football sector in particular, and national team levels in general.

Deputy Director of the centre Truong Van Loi said that, currently, his centre is training more than 200 players in different age groups, such as U11s, U13s, U15s, U17s, U19s and U21s. These qualified players have been carefully selected by the centre.

“The SHB Da Nang Youth Football Training Centre is proud to be one of the eight top quality football training centres in Viet Nam. At the centre, young footballers are trained well to develop to their fullest potential, and each age group has its own training plans” said Mr. Loi.

According to Mr. Loi, among the 200 trainees, the U11 age group accounts for the largest number with 45 footballers. Every year, the centre recruits more young football talents.

“We are enrolling children aged 9 to 10 to train and gradually build the next generation of footballers for the city’s football club. The selection of young football talents is widely announced in mass media so the young can apply for the centre’s training courses to pursue their passion for football. Normally, at the beginning of summer, the centre’s selection rounds attract a large number of young players" added Mr. Loi.

The selected young players will gather at the centre located in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Minh Ward for training and daily activities. Also, they are facilitated to study at schools near the centre in tandem with participating in training courses at the centre.

According to Mr. Loi, besides recruiting football talents in the city, his centre also seeks football talents in such other localities as Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Quang Binh.

The 20ha centre has five training pitches, including 2 artificial grass football pitches and 3 natural grass ones. Also, it is equipped with modern equipment to ensure the best living and training conditions for trainees.

The coaching staff is also flexible to ensure that their trainees can maintain the balance between studies and regular practice.

Currently, each youth team at the SHB Da Nang Youth Football Training Centre has its own coaching staff, including one head coach, one assistant coach and one goalkeeping coach.

In addition, the centre's medical team has one doctor and 8 medical workers who are responsible for taking care of the health and fitness of players.

According to Mr. Bui Thong Tan, head coach of the U11 SHB Da Nang team, for players at a young age, the coaching staff always creates the best conditions for them to develop in stature as well as thinking and playing speed. In terms of skills and tactics, trainees will gradually become acquainted when mastering the basic elements in football.

Over the past 15 years, the centre’s footballers have achieved certain success at both municipal and national-level tournaments.

Specifically, SHB Da Nang U21 team has successfully relegated and will compete in the next National Football Championship Division 2 season.

In addition to the SHB U21 team, the SHB U17 team is taking the lead in the qualifying round of the ongoing National U17 Football Championship in Gia Lai Province.

Meanwhile, the U15 team will compete in the qualifying round of the National U15 Football Championship on July 8 in Ha Noi, whilst the U11 team has advanced to the final round of the National U11 Football Championship in Da Nang on July 5.

“Currently, young footballers from Quang Nam Province and Da Nang are playing  a core role in SHB football teams. Hopefully, through the centre’s scientific and methodical training courses, young talents will continue to develop and mature in the future", emphasised Mr. Loi.
