The National Rowing and Canoeing Championships for all Clubs Nationwide in 2023 started at the Dong Nghe Lake in Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang on Thursday.

Co-organised by the Viet Nam Boat Racing Federation and the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, the tournament attracts 410 male and female athletes from 27 provinces and cities nationwide.

The rowing category has 20 events for men and women, with 2,000m in singles, doubles and quadruples.

Meanwhile, canoeing consists of 36 competitions for men and women for Canoes and Kayaks with distances of 200m, 500m and 1,000m in singles, doubles and quadruples.

The tournament aims to create conditions for athletes to improve their performance skills and gain competition experience in preparation for international tournaments.

The first competitions took place before the opening ceremony. As a result, athletes from the Da Nang delegation won 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. In which, 4 gold medals were grabbed in canoeing in singles and quadruple with the distances of 500m and 1,000m.

The Da Nang delegation target to win at least 10 gold medals at the tournament.
