On Friday evening, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023 with the theme ‘Light up the borderless world’ officially opened with the competition of the home team Da Nang (Viet Nam) and the defending champion DIFF 2019 Finland. Among VIP guests at the Friday event were Former State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.

On the Da Nang side, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, Deputy Party Committee Secretary cum Chairman of the municipal People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairwoman cum Head of the Organising Committee of DIFF 2023 Ngo Thi Kim Yen, along with international guests and the leaders of national and municipal agencies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that the success of the DIFF in the previous years has affirmed the attractiveness of this much awaited festival in the hearts of city dwellers as well as domestic and foreign tourists arriving this central coastal regional hub of tourism. This is the pride of Da Nang and also a challenge for the city to constantly strive to overcome any challenges on the path of improving the quality of organisation process and fireworks performance in order to build the brand name of the DIFF to make it more worthy of everyone's expectations.

“This year's DIFF is a special festival because we and you have waited a long time after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, to be able to enjoy these memorable moments tonight by the iconic Han River.  The pandemic has brought the world to a standstill, we have become distant from one another, so we hope that DIFF 2023 with the common theme ‘The world without distance’ will serve as a bridge to help remove all barriers so that everyone together enjoys the artistic values, the cultural beauties, together towards the aspiration for peace and prosperity", remarked Chairman Chinh.

With the participation of teams from the UK, Poland, Canada, France, Finland, Australia, Italy and Viet Nam under the theme of each performance night: ‘Peace for the world’, ‘Love without Distance’, ‘Chasing Your Dreams’, ‘Embracing Nature’, respectively, DIFF 2023 is the reunion of representatives of countries with a long tradition of fireworks performances. Together, they will tell stories with light, music, the sublimation of art and emotions, all of which promise to bring surprises and unforgettable impressions.

Along with that, there are companion events with attractive content that will add colour and create new and unique experiences for local residents and visitors during the 2-month festival.

The opening ceremony was followed by impressive performances by Da Nang (Viet Nam) and Finland teams under the theme ‘Peace for the world’.
