Da Nang has constantly created favourable conditions for education development strides in order to gradually implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW of the 11^th Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam on fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education and training, aiming at developing education in depth.

Breakthroughs in educational innovation

Over the past two years, despite the impact of COVID-19, the education of the whole city has recorded positive changes, and especially, teachers are proactive and active in improving their professional qualifications, and well implementing the application of information technology, innovating teaching methods.

Since the beginning of the 2021 - 2022 school year, schools have encouraged teachers to make and use teaching aids by themselves.

Strengthening the application of information technology is one of the key tasks the city's education sector must fullfil to meet the requirements of digital transformation education.

Up to now, 100% of educational units and schools throughout the city have updated data and reported statistics on the database of the Ministry of Education and Training, 100% of educational institutions in the city use their electronic grade books, electronic school report cards for elementary grades.

Schools have been synchronously invested in information technology infrastructure. The implementation of innovative teaching methods in the direction of developing students' qualities and abilities has achieved certain results.

Outstandingly, 47 out of the 68 Da Nang students joining national exams for the gifted in 2021 won prizes with the rate of 69.1%.

The city won one third and one prospective prize at the National Science and Technology Competition 2021, one second and one first prize at the UPU International Letter Writing Contest, one second, 7 third and 7 consolation prizes at the National Young Informatics Contest.

The rate of students passing the national senior high school graduation exams in 2021 was 95.86%, in which there were 6 schools with 100% passing rate.

Da Nang students participate in extra-curricular classes to enhance their knowledge and life skills.

Heading towards in-depth development

In order to strengthen facilities and ensure the quality of education and training activities in the following years, the Da Nang People's Committee has approved the project of building, upgrading and expanding schools in the 2021 - 2025 period in the city with a network of 452 educational units and schools with a combined total of 339,315 students.

Of this, there are 238 preschools and kindergartens, 109 primary schools, 64 junior high schools, 38 senior high schools and inter-level high schools, 3 continuing education centres across the city.

The education sector will continue to implement approved projects such as the development of clean water system for schools, the promotion of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) educational equipment for schools and the "Building a child-centered preschool for the 2021 - 2025 period’ project and the School Health Programme until 2025 in the city.

Besides, the educational sector has promoted the application of information technology in teaching, testing, assessment and management of educational activities, school administration in order to adapt to the burgeoning Industry 4.0.

In addition to the development of academic courses, the  municipal Department of Education and Training has developed a draft plan to implement the Prime Minister's Decision No. 1373/QD-TTg dated July 30, 2021 approving the ‘Building a learning society in the 2021 – 2030 period ’ project and submitted it to the municipal administration for promulgation. People from all walks of life are encouraged to join the movement to build the whole city into a learning society.

According to Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training, the municipal government has directed the implementation of the planning on the network of schools and classes of preschool, general education and continuing education systems to update them into the Da Nang Master Plan to 2030, with a vision towards 2045.

Guidelines, policies and projects will be carried out in the coming time in order to give a lift to the local education and training sector so that it can meet the requirements of the new period, with a focus on talent promotion and, spearhead education.

At a recent meeting with the Da Nang leaders, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son underlined a must-do for Da Nang to set a goal of developing good-quality and in-depth education, with standards higher than the whole country and towards international stature.

To achieve this goal, the city needs to soon have an education development plan, accompanied by forecasts on human demand for the city's socio-economic sectors. This plan must include and take into account a higher standard.

In addition to mass education, it is necessary to pay attentions to spearhead education and talent promotion. Educational space outside the school must be taken into account so that everyone can study anywhere. The network of universities acting as innovation centre must also be included in this plan.
