EPICS forum held in Da Nang to support transformation of higher education in Viet Nam
The U.S.-based Arizona State University in collaboration with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), on Friday, organised the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) forum at the University of Science and Technology - the University of Da Nang.
This forum was part of the USAID-funded ‘Building University-Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT)’ project.
During the forum, representatives from the Arizona State University, USAID Viet Nam, universities participating in the BUILD-IT project, community organizations, and businesses together shared ways to implement EPICS, values and benefits of EPICS, and related challenges and solutions.
Also, the event featured discussions about how universities in Viet Nam to expand their capacity to organize and operate project-based innovative multidisciplinary learning programmes.
Over the past 5 years, BUILD-IT has been supporting participating universities to implement programmes, as well as address EPICS-related challenges. The project has provided the opportunity for students to collaborate with local community organizations, thereby applying their knowledge to solve real-world problems and serve the community.
In addition, BUILD-IT aims to support the transformation of higher education in Viet Nam in line with the needs of industry 4.0, hereby significantly contributing to providing quality students in the context of labor market fluctuations.
