Thai Ambassador visits the city
On Thursday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, hosted a reception for the Thai Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr Panyarak Poolthup.
The Ambassador said that the purpose of his visit was to enhance cooperative relations in trade and tourism between Thailand and Da Nang. He said that his government wants to cooperate with the city’s authorities in reopening the Thailand-Da Nang direct flights as soon as possible. This flight route has not operated for some time due to its ineffective operation and high airport charges.

In response, Vice Chairman Khuong briefed his guest on his city's future development strategies. He remarked that Da Nang is one of Viet Nam’s 5 largest cities, and it has the advantage of being close to the three World Cultural Heritage Sites of Hue Citadel, Hoi An and My Son Sanctuary. He added that the city has seen rapid and sustainable economic and urban growth over recent years.
The city leader said that Da Nang has become an attractive destination for visitors from both home and abroad over recent years, and many international events have been held in the city. He noted that his city is giving top priority to promoting the development of tourism, services and hi-tech industries. Da Nang is now home to around 13,000 businesses, of which about 300 are FDI enterprises.
Mr Khuong said that he would like the Thai Ambassador to do his utmost to appeal for more businesses and associations from his country to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang. This will help to deepen the bilateral ties between Da Nang and Thailand.
