During his reception for a delegation from Izumisano, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, on Thursday, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh said the two cities share many similarities, especially in tourism development and human resource training strategy. In the coming time, a Japanese Consulate Office will be located in Da Nang, which offers a good opportunity to considerably publicise the images of the two localities for the sake of their tourism development.

With regard to human resource development, such higher-education institutes across the city as the University of Da Nang, the private universities of Duy Tan and Dong A have maintained their good relationship with some Japanese provincial governments, and the East Asian country as a whole. This fact has facilitated the two sides to boost their bilateral cooperation and exchanges of human resources in such aspects as hospitality industry and nursing care.

In reply, Vice Chairman of Izumisano People's Council Yamatoya Takahiko underlined the significance of implementing human resource exchange projects between the two cities, and creating a close connection between the Da Nang and Kansai international airport in the time to come.

Since the Japanese economic crisis 20 years ago, Izumisano has developed towards the ‘airport-led urban area’ mode, with a focus on tourism.

Currently, the Kansai airport, which is the 2nd largest of its kind in Japan, is located within 3 municipalities, namely Izumisano, Sennan, and Tajiri in Osaka Prefecture.

Despite its small population of only 100,000, Izumisano welcomes up to 15 million tourists each year, with an annual growth rate of 5.6%.

Mr Takahiko also briefed the Da Nang host on Izumisano’s experience in tourism development, including the restructuring of the urban landscape, and development of a strategy to increase the number of hotel rooms.

Also on Thursday, Acting Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Ha Bac played host to a delegation from Yaroslavl Region, Russia.

At the meeting, the municipal Industrial and Trade Promotion entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Yaroslavl Region Export Centre to cooperate in trade promotion and foreign trade development activities.

Under the signed agreement, these two units will act as a bridge to promote linkages amongst businesses, organising exhibitions, fairs, seminars and related events to facilitate businesses to grasp more import and export opportunities.

Encouragingly, such Russian businesses as Forma Co., Ltd. specializing in importing dental equipment, Condor - Eco JSC specializing in metallurgy, energy and cement, and Arkus Co., Ltd. majoring in construction materials and furniture, want to seek cooperation and investment opportunities with Da Nang-based businesses in the coming time.

Acting Deputy Director Bac affirmed that his agency would encourage local businesses involved in these aspects to promote trade, import and export activities with Japanese partners.

In reply, a representative from the visiting Russian group suggested that Yaroslavl Region and Da Nang cooperate in such aspects as tourism and transport infrastructure construction.

Yaroslav region has been promoting trade activities in Da Nang since 2013. Located in the heart of central Russia, on the Volga River, Yaroslavl Region shows off a lot of industrial potential, especially in the aspects of shipbuilding, machine building and chemical industry.
