Awards for writing contest about Da Nang handed out

A writing contest hosted by the Da Nang Newspaper wrapped up on Saturday with 9 prizes given to winners.

In his remarks at the awards ceremony of the writing contest, Editor-in-chief of the Da Nang Newspaper cum Head of the Jury Board Nguyen Duc Nam stated that the writing contest, carrying its theme of ‘Da Nang in New Days’, aimed to mark 25 years since the city’s recognition as a centrally-governed city (January 1, 1997 – 20220).

Mr Nam said in the 6 months since the launch of this contest, the organisers received a total of 167 entries of 110 entrants from all over the country. The most 27 outstanding writings advanced to the final round and were publicized on the DA NANG Weekend - an publication of the DA NANG Newspaper.

“Each entrant has its own nuances, but in the end, they all show special concern for the land and people of Da Nang, and great contributions to the building of Da Nang into a beautiful, peaceful and friendly coastal city", emphasized journalist Nguyen Duc Nam.

Speaking at the event, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highly appreciated the initiative of Da Nang Newspaper to organize the meaningful writing contest. He highlighted the meaningfulness of the contest in creating very good social impact, and celebrating 25 years since the city’s recognition as a centrally-governed city.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the authors across the country. All entries show special love for Da Nang, and are valuable references and meaningful messages to the city's leaders to have more comprehensive view of the city’s remarkable achievements after 25 years of construction and development ", emphasized Deputy Secretary Triet.

In the end, there was no first prize winners. 1 second, 3 third and 5 consolation prizes were given out to outstanding entrants.
