Da Nang hopes to establish the bilateral cooperation ties with localities of Saudi Arabia as soon as possible.

Secretary of Da Nang Party Committee cum Head of the municipal National Assembly Deputies' delegation Nguyen Van Quang made the statement at his Tuesday reception for Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Viet Nam Saud F.M. Al Suwelim.

During his meeting with the Saudi Arabian diplomat, Secretary Quang acknowledged and thanked Saudi Arabia for helping Viet Nam overcome its difficult times triggered by natural disasters and COVID-19 pandemic.

The city leader highly agreed with the ambassador’s assessment about the cooperation potential and opportunities between Viet Nam and Saudi Arabia in general, and between Da Nang and Saudi Arabia in particular.

According to Mr Quang, Viet Nam and Saudi Arabia had great potential for cooperation and investment. Saudi Arabia and Da Nang shared potential for cooperating in such aspects as construction, high technology, urban infrastructure, and high-quality tourism.

However, due to many reasons, results from bilateral cooperation programmes between Saudi Arabia and Da Nang have not been commensurate to their potential and strengths in recent years.

Da Nang has yet to set up official cooperative relationships with any Saudi Arabian localities.

The city chief Quang expressed his hope that ambassador Saud F.M.AI Suwelim would do his utmost to promote cooperation relations with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, in the time to come.

He took the opportunity to ask the visitor to connect Da Nang and a locality of Saudi Arabia to establish a bilateral cooperation relationship as soon as possible, thereby creating a premise to promote cooperation and exchanges between Da Nang and Saudi Arabian localities in the coming time.

The Saudi Arabian ambassador, for his part, remarked that, over the past years, the Viet Nam- Saudi Arabia cooperation relationships have been developing brilliantly in various fields.

Most specifically, Saudi Arabia has provided Viet Nam with preferential-interest-rate loans to carry out infrastructure development project, as well as given active support for Viet Nam to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters and pandemic. The number of Saudi Arabian arrivals to Da Nang, and Viet Nam, has gradually increased over the years.

He hoped that the bilateral cooperation ties between Da Nang and Saudi Arabian localities would be further tightened in the coming time.
