Da Nang leader welcomes Lao Women's Union delegation

Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, hosted a reception on Friday for a high-ranking delegation of the Lao Women's Union, led by its President Inlavan Keobounphan.

Also presence at the reception for Lao guests were President of the Viet Nam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga, and municipal People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen.

During the meeting, Secretary Quang, on behalf of the city leaders, wished the Lao visitors good health and happiness, hoping that they would achieve many good results during their working trip to Viet Nam.

He noted that 2020 was an important milestone for both countries as marking the 60th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Viet Nam - Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - 2022).

Therefore, the city planned to send its high-level delegation to five south-central localities of Laos from July 2 - 8 in order to strengthen the friendship cooperation between Da Nang and Laotian localities, added Mr. Quang.

The city Party Chief remarked that during the city leaders’ forthcoming working trip to Laos, the two sides would together review the bilateral cooperation programmes over the past time as well as discuss cooperation plans for the 2023-2027 period. It is expected that Da Nang would enter into memoranda of understanding for the 2023-2027 period with five south-central localities of Laos.

Secretary Quang took the opportunity to ask for a helping hand from President Inlavan Keobounphan to help the Women’s Unions of Laotian localitian and Da Nang to gain greater achievements in the coming time, thereby contributing to reaffirming the position and role of women in the two countries.

On behalf of the high-ranking delegation of the Lao Women's Union, Ms. Inlavan Kwok-bunphan expressed her joy at the warm welcome of the city leaders. She also briefed the hosts on the remarkable achievements that the Women's Unions of Laos and Viet Nam have gained over the past time, as well as informed the organisations’ orientations in the coming time.

She thanked the city leaders for their special care and active support for the south-central provinces of Laos over recent years.

The guest pledged to uphold the achievements to contribute to boosting the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos, as well as between Da Nang and southern and central provinces of Laos, hereby bringing practical interests to people and women of the two countries.
