Significantly contribute to security safeguarding

A nearly 1km concrete road connecting Con Mong and Mieu Bong village in Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District was previously without electric lights, which caused difficulties for people to travel at night.
Secretary of Hoa Phuoc Commune Youth Union chapter Tran Van Tho said that when there was no electric light, people moving on the road at night often faces traffic crash risks. Also, certain persons took advantage of the dark to commit thefts and robberies, thus causing insecurity and disorder. Last, but not least, in the dark, some residents intentionally litter along the road, causing unhygienic environment.

Faced with the above-mentioned issues, the Da Nang Youth Union has taken the initiative to implement the project “Lighting up rural roads” under which free-of-charge solar light poles would be installed along the road connecting the two aforementioned villages.

To make the project highly effective, the youths took into account a number of factors, including the length of the roads, the number of bulbs, and power poles, and the estimated cost for installing the lighting system.

The diffused light makes people excited. Thanks to the lighting system, the security and order in the locality have improved, whilst crime rates and traffic accidents have dropped.  In the coming time, the Da Nang Youth Union and residents will launch the planting of trees and flowers on both sides of the road, thereby contributing to creating a clean and beautiful landscape in the residential area.

In a similar vein, the Youth Union organisation of the Da Nang-based Central Power Corporation is a prominent unit in the implementation of free lighting projects in countryside roads and martyrs' cemeteries inside and outside the city.

High determination of Da Nang youths

As reported by Nguyen Tuan Anh, Secretary of the Youth Union organisation of the Central Power Corporation, in addition to building free lighting systems in Da Nang, every year, his unit coordinates with other agencies and organisations to implement other meaningful projects in disadvantaged localities in neighbouring cities and provinces.

For example, at the end of July, 2022, the Youth Union members from the Da Nang Power company, in joint efforts with those from the Union of Technical Education University, carried out the project ‘Lighting up the rural roads’ in Hiep Hoa Commune, Hiep Duc District, Quang Nam Province.

Under the project, 26 solar lights were installed along on a nearly 2km-long road in Hiep Hoa Commune, hereby contributing to ensuring safe travelling at night, ensuring security and order in the locality.

“The project has been implemented inside and outside the city, bringing practical benefits, improving the spiritual life of the people, making the rural appearance more and more prosperous. In the coming years, we will continue to carry out more free-of-charge lighting projects in other mountainous areas”, said Anh.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Da Nang Youth Union, the project is being effectively implemented by the Youth Union's establishments in coordination with relevant units, bringing practical meaning in the past time, positively changing the lives of people in rural areas in the city and neighbouring provinces, hereby contributing to repelling social evils, ensuring traffic order and safety. This shows high determination made by the city's youth and related units to join hands in building a new-style countryside communities.
