French Navy's Vendemiaire frigate makes port call in Da Nang
The frigate Vendemiaire of the French Navy docked at Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port on Thursday morning to begin an official 5-day visit to the city.

In attendance at the welcome ceremony for French navy officers and soldiers were representatives of leaders of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the Navy Region 3 Command, the Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Region 2, the city’s Border Guard Command, and the local Military Command, the Department of Foreign Affairs under the Command of Military Region 5, the Department of Foreign Affairs under Ministry of National Defence, and relevant authorities.
Also, there were presence of Colonel Frédéric Daumas, French Defence Attaché in Viet Nam, and some officials of the French Embassy in Ha Noi.

Upon docking at the Tien Sa Port, Lieutenant Colonel Sebastien Drouelle, captain of the frigate, will pay courtesy visits to the leaders of the Da Nang administration and the commands of Military Region 5 and Navy Region 3.
In addition, crew members will visit a number of popular tourist attractions in Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue Province and Quang Nam Province; as well as take part in exchange activities with units from the Viet Nam Coast Guard Region 2 Command.

The visit provides a good opportunity for the two sides to share and learn experiences in law enforcement at sea as well as enhance exchange, cooperation and mutual understanding activities, thereby contributing to promoting and strengthening the friendly relationship between the forces of the two countries.
The Vendemiaire is a Floreal-class frigate, measuring 93 meters in length and accommodating a crew of approximately 100 members along with a Dauphin-type helicopter.
In addition to maritime protection and control of exclusive economic zones, the ship often performs missions to support people and take part in cooperation programmes.
