According to the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the city’s Tho Quang fishing wharf is facing boat overload.

During this year's 3rd tropical storm, which entered the central region in September, over 1,200 fishing boats were anchored at the wharf when in fact it is only designed to accommodate 800 vessels.  Currently, the wharf is seeing a further increase in the overload due to 186 more boats which have been moved from along the banks of the Han River after instructions from the municipal People’s Committee (PC).

During a recent meeting with local relevant agencies, the municipal PC Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, urged the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to seek other suitable anchorages for fishing boats in addition to the wharf.  The focus should be on developing detailed plans for the anchoring of fishing boats at the wharf on normal days, dredging the wharf to expand its storm shelter, and installing more mooring buoys at the site.
