At 6.00am on Sunday, fishing boat BĐ 95906 TS from Binh Dinh Province suffered engine failure whilst fishing at latitude 17°54’N and longitude 107°58’E, about 70 nautical miles northeast off the Quang Tri coast.  The boat, with its crew of 6 onboard, was adrift in strong winds of level 5.

After receiving an SOS message at 7.10pm on Monday, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station immediately informed regional and local search and rescue teams and urged them to ask fishing vessels and other ships operating nearby to help the boat in distress.

On the evening of the same day, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (VMRCC) sent out rescue ship SAR-411 to help the boat, which was then at latitude 17°47'N and longitude 108°00'E, and towed it back to the mainland.
