Security officers from the Aviation Security Centre at the Da Nang International Airport temporarily have seized a cell phone and an identity card of Pham Huy Cuong from Thai Nguyen Province due to his rude behaviour.

At around 10.00pm on Sunday, the 32-year-old male passenger arrived at the check-in counter of low-cost carrier Vietjet Air for his flight to Ha Noi that night.

However, a check-in staff member, informed Mr Cuong that his flight had been cancelled due to bad weather conditions and he would fly the following day.

Mr Cuong expressed his annoyance at the cancellation of his flight without any information from the airlines.

The female employee explained that the passenger could not receive the information regarding the cancellation in advance as he had provided the wrong phone number.

The man then became infuriated with the female attendant, and threw his cell phone at her face. As a result, she had her upper left eyelid broken and bled. She was then rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Security guards at the airport noticed the incident and escorted Cuong to their office.

Cuong admitted his wrong behavior and confessed that he had consumed alcohol prior to the incident.

The case has been transferred to the Central Airports Authority and a suitable penalty will be imposed upon the attacker.
