Themed ‘Books - Cultural Festive Day in Son Tra District’, the event attracted a total of 20,000 visitors to buy their favourite books. As a result, 18,000 copies of books in total were sold.
The event featured a total of 50 stands which introduced new and interesting books released by such popular publishing houses as the central regional branch of the Kim Dong Publishing House, the Nha Nam Company, and the Ho Chi Minh City-based Fahasa Publishing House. Amongst the participating book sellers at the event were some junior high schools and some English centres across the district.
Highlights of this year’s event were fascinating exchange activities between local readers and renowned domestic speakers Huynh Van Son and Nguyen Minh Khoa, a famous domestic singer Bang Cuong, and a young music band from the city.
In addition, a wide range of exciting cultural activities for kids were held during the fair, including kids talent seeking, drawings about the sea and islands, and book-related story telling.
Also at the fair, the city’s General Science Library and the central regional branch of the Kim Dong Publishing House presented 3 public book shelves to the Son Tra District authorities. These items were then distributed to school libraries, book reading rooms, public book café parks and public bookcases in the district.
