Crews of the Naval Zone 3’s ship 312 rescued 11 fishermen after their boat QNg 94625 TS from Quang Ngai Province sank in the water off the Son Tra Cape on Friday.

The incident happened at 10.00am. The rescued fishermen told the authorities that they were conducting fishing about 70 nautical miles north off the Son Tra Cape when its engine broke down, causing it to sink. They immediately made a distress signal to the Da Nang Coastal Information Station.

Soon after, the Naval Zone 3’s ship 312, which was on duty at sea, was alerted by a distress signal from crews on the distressed boat.

Thirty minutes later, the ship 312 arrived at the scene. Rescuers used water pumps to pump water out of the sinking boat.

Despite great efforts of rescuers, the fishing boat sank at 11.30am on the same day due to strong winds and high waves at sea.

In the afternoon of the same day, rescuers have safely brought back the distressed fishermen, who had been in danger at sea, to the mainland.
