Acts of kindness help the disadvantaged

Over the past 3 years, 45-year-old Tran Duy Phong, a male resident of Da Nang, and some like-minded people, have been active to offer their help to those need it nationwide.

The kind-hearted people have raised funds to help residents in remote mountainous areas nationwide such as Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone in Quang Binh Province, A Vuong Commune in Quang Nam Province’s Tay Giang District, Gia Lai Province’s Kbang District, and Hoa Bac Commune in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District.

After Da Nang braced for a second wave of Covid-19 infections in late July, Phong and his charity group members have called for donations from generous philanthropists nationwide to provide  food, medical and essential support to coronavirus isolation facilities and residential areas under lockdown in both Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

In addition, they have been actively involved in buying old bikes that they could repair them with new spare parts and give them as gifts to poor pupils.

In late September, 50 repaired bikes, along with some school supplies went to support poor pupils in Tra Mai Town, Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam Province.

Pham Quynh Anh, a 5th grader of the Kim Dong Primary School in Tra Nam Commune, Nam Tra My District, said she was very grateful to Mr Phong and his charity group members for all their help. Also, she promised to do her utmost to gain good academic results and become a good citizen of her country.

Mr Phong and his charity group members are planning to continue conducting charity programmes in remote mountainous areas nationwide, with a focus on presenting bikes to those in need.
