A Da Nang candle factory has been left severely damaged following a large fire in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, 11 November).

Around 100 firefighters from the Lien Chieu District were rushed to the scene in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District.

A security guard phoned the fire service after spotting the flames.

Smoke plumes covered the 500m², 2-storey factory within minutes of the blaze starting at around 4.00am. 

Many residents living close by the factory were evacuated from their homes when a huge plume of black smoke was sent into the air.

Despite cooler weather conditions and rain at that time, fire crews took more than 2 hours of working to put the fire out.

The fire crews said that there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire but many properties in this factory, including a pickup truck, were completely destroyed.

Authorities said the factory manufactures sparkling candles and explosive substances used for this apparently caught fire.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is now underway.
