A combined total of 550 units of blood were collected at the 2021 ‘Red Sunday’ blood donation campaign which took place in Da Nang on Sunday morning.

Co-organised by the municipal Youth Union and the representative office of the Tien Phong Newspaper in the city, the campaign attracted as many as 1,000 local government employees, Youth Union members, members of the city-based voluntary blood donation clubs, and others.

The purpose of the campaign was to collect more blood for use in emergencies and treatment activities during the upcoming seven-day Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival break.

Also at the event, 25 local groups received Certificates of Merit from the municipal Youth Union for their outstanding achievements in local voluntary blood donation campaigns last year.

In 2020 alone, a total of more than 16,000 units of blood were collected from a large number of donors from across the city during the municipal Youth Union-launched blood drives.
