Irish Aid-funded project benefits disabled children in Da Nang
Between 2012 and 2020, a combined total of 76,500 children aged under 6 across Da Nang were given access to free screening programmes for the early detection of disabilities. As a result, 1,645 disabled children were identified and received timely medical intervention.
Additionally, 269 disabled children were provided with rehabilitation equipment, whilst 10 training courses on technology transfer in rehabilitation were organised for 295 parents having children with mobility impairment.
The information was released at an online meeting on Saturday to review the implementation of the Irish Aid-funded project on increasing the capacity and sustainability of early detection and intervention of children with disabilities aged under 6 in Da Nang.
The meeting was co-hosted by Da Nang Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Sustainable Health Development Centre (VietHealth).
The purpose of the project was to develop counselling services about early detection and timely intervention of disabled children under 6 across Da Nang, as well as to improve the professional skills of medical staff, pre-school teachers and those who are involved in social affairs, in the city.
