The Ministry of Public Security has launched an urgent probe into cyber attacks on the website for national registration of ‘green lane’ status granted to vehicles transporting essential goods.

The website is under the management of the Directorate for Roads of Viet Nam (DRVN) of the Ministry of Transport.

‘Green lane’ vehicles receive QR codes, allowing them to be prioritised to pass through COVID-19 prevention checkpoints without lengthy waits. This priority aims to facilitate the smooth circulation of necessities throughout the nation in light of the complicated developments of COVID-19.

It is known that many continuous cyber attacks had taken place on the server system storing data at the domains of the ‘green lane’ system, causing the system to be severely affected.

The website was reportedly attacked by hackers with about 500 requests per second on average, repeatedly crashing the system and preventing it from functioning normally.

The attack is considered serious issue amid the fact that a very large number of vehicles across the country are applying for the ‘green lane’.

There have been more than 20,000 applications for ‘green lane’ QR codes.
