Let's remain vigilant in fight against COVID-19, Da Nang top leader says

During his meeting on Sunday afternoon, September 26, with members of the Da Nang COVID-19 Monitoring Committee, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang said that new cases have been found in the community in scope of the “One door-one test” campaign, warning that the risk of virus resurgence is never far away and remains very high in the city.

Mr Quang, therefore, urged officials and residents across the city to remain vigilant by continuing to follow the recommended health and safe measures in line with the current direction from the municipal government in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus and safeguard green zones in the city.

The health agency was asked to develop action plan for mass testing after the city enters the new normal as COVID-19 surveillance testing program is a critical part of the city's pandemic response, helping control the spread of the virus.

The Da Nang top leader highlighted need to give high priority to administer COVID-19 vaccines in high-risk areas.

Mr Quang also stressed the need to promote the use of the city’s health declaration app among new arrivals in an attempt to support the city’s efforts in managing COVID risks and tracing contacts of COVID-19 cases.

He remarked that the city has prepared guidance for businesses and residents to support their transition to the new normal in line with the guidelines from the Ministry of Health. The focus will be on advice how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 with proper precautions.

Municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet raised concerns about COVID-19 risk as food selling points are opening in residential areas and near tradition markets while these markets have yet to reopen.

Mr Triet, therefore, asked authorities at local level to reopen wet markets as soon as possible with the necessary measures in place to protect the safety and health of stall holders and patrons.

Municipal People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen called on every one across the city to remain vigilant, responsible, wise and aware to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

She directed the health agency to roll out mass COVID-19 vaccination program in effective and safe practices, as well as to take swift and decisive action in response to new cases in order to contain the spread of the virus.
