Chairman Chinh praised districts across the city and relevant agencies for their efforts in following COVID-19 guidelines from the municipal government and health bodies in order to effectively control the spread of the virus.
He remarked that the city will reach its goal of giving at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot to 90% of its adult population after completion of the ongoing coronavirus vaccine rollout to give 100,000 doses of Vero Cell vaccine to eligible people.
Mr Chinh highlighted the need to maintain tight controls at entry points, and underlined the crucial role of authorities at local level in keeping a close surveillance on people arriving in the city from other parts of the country amid nationwide localities’ reopening as a blanket policy to prevent COVID-19 importations or reintroduction from new arrivals.
The Da Nang leader also highlighted the efforts of police officers and staff of the municipal Department of Transport along with authorities at local level to provide active support for groups of people who go through Da Nang on their way home from the Southern localities. Chairman Chinh pledged that the municipal government is willing to provide the best possible support for these people to return home safely.
Colonel Phan Van Dung, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Police, said that the city has provided practical support for 24 groups with 7,100 vehicles and 13,795 people from southern localities from October 2 – 5, including a number of people on their arduous journeys on foot to return home amid COVID-19 crisis.
Colonel Dung asked the taskforces to increase checks at all trails and paths on the Da Nang- Quang Nam border in a bid to detect arrivals without passing COVID-19 checkpoints. This work is one of the most effective measures to create an effective shield for preventing the risk of the virus being transmitted from arrivals from outside the city, he emphasized.
Latest figures released by Doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control and Prevention show that the health agency offered 15,216 doses of Vero Cell vaccine to eligible people across Da Nang on October 5. With 831,911 doses administered in total, 739,387 people across Da Nang have now been vaccinated with a first dose while 92,524 people have had both doses.
Mr Thanh said that an employee in Matrix Manufacturing Viet Nam Company Limited tested positive for COVID-19 in scope of the company’s coronavirus regular testing.
“However, it is a re-positive case and he was discharged from hospital nearly 3 weeks ago following recovering from coronavirus. He is self- isolating at home under close monitoring of healthcare workers, and he will get re-tested for COVID-19 after 7 days" said Dr. Thanh.
