Da Nang recorded only one new COVID-19 patient today, October 4, who was a driver testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 whilst passing through a quarantine checkpoint set up at the city’s gateway, the Da Nang Steering Board for COVID-19 Prevention and Control freshly confirmed.

No new community transmission case was recorded today.

Specifically, the functional force on duty at a quarantine checkpoint on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Ngu Hanh Son District conducted a mandatory rapid antigen test on a 29-year-old male driver hailing from the central province of Nghe An.

He was employed by a transport company located in Ho Nai 3 Commune, Trang Bom District, the southern province of Dong Nai, a coronavirus-stricken locality in Viet Nam, taking in charge of transporting goods on the Dong Nai - Da Nang route.

Upon the release of his positive SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test result, the driver was put under temporary isolation in Ngu Hanh Son District. Afterwards, another test conducted via the RT-PCR technique confirmed that the driver had contracted with the deadly virus.

The whole city now has 5 ‘green’ districts where neither community-acquired cases nor locked-down sites have been logged over the past 14 days, namely Hoa Vang, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le and Lien Chieu.

Till date, 53 out of the total 56 communes and wards citywide have been labelled as ‘green’ ones which are now free from the virus.

Hoa Vang District: the communes of Hoa Bac, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Tien, Hoa Phu, Hoa Lien, Hoa Nhon, Hoa Phong, Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Ninh, Hoa Chau, and Hoa Son

Son Tra District: the wards of An Hai Bac, Man Thai, An Hai Tay, Phuoc My, Nai Hien Dong, Tho Quang, and An Hai Dong

Ngu Hanh Son District: the wards of Hoa Quy, Hoa Hai, My An and Khue My

Cam Le District: the wards of Khue Trung, Hoa Tho Tay, Hoa Phat, Hoa Tho Dong, Hoa Xuan and Hoa An

Lien Chieu District: the wards of Hoa Minh, Hoa Hiep Nam, Hoa Hiep Bac, Hoa Khanh Nam and Hoa Khanh Bac

Hai Chau District : the wards of Phuoc Ninh, Nam Duong, Hai Chau 1, Hoa Cuong Nam, Binh Hien, Hoa Thuan Dong, Hoa Thuan Tay, Hoa Cuong Bac, Thach Thang, Hai Chau 2, and Thanh Binh.

Thanh Khe District: the wards of Hoa Khe, Thanh Khe Dong, Thac Gian, Chinh Gian, Xuan Ha, Thanh Khe Tay, Tan Chinh, Vinh Trung, Tam Thuan.

Since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started in Da Nang, 4,671 active cases have been documented citywide.
